A Lush Escape into the Atlas
The Ourika Valley is the closest and most accessible part of the High Atlas Mountains from Marrakech, making it the perfect day trip for nature lovers. Just an hour's drive away, the landscape transforms from arid plains to green valleys lined with orchards, terraced fields, and willow trees.
You'll follow the Ourika River up into the mountains to the village of Setti Fatma. Here, you can hire a local guide for a hike to the famous seven waterfalls. The path offers stunning views and a chance to spot local wildlife like the Barbary macaque.
After your hike, relax and enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch at one of the many riverside restaurants where you can literally cool your feet in the water while you eat. It's a favorite local escape from the summer heat.
Day Itinerary
09:00 AM - Departure
Pick up from your hotel. Scenic drive south towards the Atlas Mountains.
10:00 AM - Berber Culture
Visit a traditional Berber house or an Argan oil women's cooperative on the way.
11:30 AM - Setti Fatma Hike
Arrive at Setti Fatma. Hike to the first of the seven waterfalls with a local guide.
13:30 PM - Lunch by the River
Enjoy a tagine or grill at a riverside restaurant. Relax by the water.
16:30 PM - Return
Drive back to Marrakech. Arrival at your accommodation around 5:30 PM.
